What Caused the Meltdown: A Financial Crisis FAQ What Caused the Meltdown: A Financial Crisis FAQ

For Rick Santorum, a Pregnancy That Is the Result of Rape Is a ‘Broken Gift’ - Bentley Owen - Friendly Atheist For Rick Santorum, a Pregnancy That Is the Result of Rape Is a ‘Broken Gift’ - Bentley Owen - Friendly Atheist
By BENTLEY OWEN - FRIENDLY ATHEISTAdded: Tue, 24 Jan 2012 02:33:27 UTC Rick Santorum attempted to justify one of his most bizarre stances in an interview with Piers Morgan on Friday, and the results were predictably scary: Morgan: Do you really believe, in every case, [abortion] should be totally wrong, [including] cases of rape and incest? You’ve got two daughters… If you had a daughter that came to you who had been raped, and was pregnant, and was begging you to let her have an abortion, would you...

Private Developers Have No Right to My Home Private Developers Have No Right to My Home
Over six years ago Bruce Ratner—a top political contributor and law school friend of then Gov. George Pataki—asked Pataki to use eminent domain to seize 22 acres of prime Brooklyn real estate and hand them over for his Atlantic Yards development plan. By way of comparison, the Ground Zero site is 16 acres. The taxpayer-subsidized project would be 16 skyscrapers and a professional basketball arena for the New Jersey Nets team Ratner bought as leverage for the land grab (and just...

A quick explanation for the uninitiated: The debt limit or debt ceiling concept dates back to 1917. Prior to that date, Congress had to specifically approve...

In his run for the Republican nomination, Mitt Romney downplayed his Mormonism—referring only to “faith” or “shared values”—in the face of small-minded members of the Christian right and the occasional cackle from the Eastern cultural avant-garde. But with his party’s nod in hand, Romney has been “coming out” in the run-up to the Republican convention, letting pool reporters join him and his family at a church service, and even choosing a member of the church to deliver the invocation on the night he...
